Spanish Capital of Biodiversity
In the frame of the LIFE+ project “European Capital for Biodiversity”, the Biodiversity Foundation will launch the competition “Capital of Biodiversity”. The aim is to foster and to encourage local government initiatives for the conservation of biodiversity and to halt the loss of biodiversity in urban areas.
There will be two competitions, one in January 2010 and another one in January 2011.
During the Spanish competition there will be a hotline opened to solve any queries. Interested participants will have four months to present their proposals. The competition will be publicized among the regional authorities by four workshops. There will be held while the call for proposals is opened.
The Local Government Network +Biodiversity 2010 and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities (Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias) will help to publicize the competition. A website will be also available.
